The main attraction of Cuban artist Fran Betancourt's works are his unique, strikingly realistic but boldly painted figures, often influenced by Central American fauna and indigenous culture. A typical feature of his figures is his use of papier-mâché in combination with other support materials. The material used gives the figure a unique texture. Strong colours dominate his works and his brushstrokes make each piece unique.
