Francisco Betancourt Ortiz
Francisco Betancourt Ortiz, plastic artist, born in Santiago de Cuba, uses all techniques to express himself, and is especially known for his sculptural figures in papier-mâché and mixed materials, and for his watercolours. He studied architecture, illustration, billboard design and execution, professional photography and visual arts education. Watercolour painting course with Jorge Félix Gonzalez Céspedes at the Cultural Project El Zaguán in Santiago de Cuba. He has participated in several personal and collective exhibitions in Cuba and other countries such as France, Spain, Ecuador and Nicaragua.
In Nicaragua, between 2008 and 2011, he taught drawing and painting at the Nicaraguan Centre for the Promotion of Youth and Childhood "Dos Generaciones", at the "Academia Arte sin Fronteras" and at the French school Victor Hugo. He then taught independently in his own studio and since 2012 at the "Vivart" Gallery.
